When should I replace my child's helmet?
A child’s helmet will need to be replaced once they have outgrown it. However, there are a few other reasons why you might need to replace a helmet:
- A helmet should always be replaced after any hard impact or crash.
- A helmet should also be replaced every 5 years for optimal protection because the foam in the inner shell ages over time. You can share a helmet once a child has outgrown it, as long as it falls within 5 years of when the helmet was purchased and the helmet hasn’t been involved in a crash.
